Founded in 1977, our family business has grown from humble beginnings into a respected name in British stonemasonry. Based at the historic Weldon Stone Quarry, we remain deeply rooted in the community where our craft began. Each generation of the family has carried the business forward, building on tradition while passing down the skills, values, and respect for stone that define who we are today.
At Weldon Stone, every member of the senior team has first trained and worked as a stonemason before progressing into leadership. This hands-on experience is essential: it means our decision-makers truly understand the material, the trade, and the challenges our craftsmen face. That depth of knowledge enables us to provide not only meticulous workmanship, but also professional advice to clients and architects on stone selection, technical detailing, and design. With decades of experience and access to sustainably extracted Weldon stone - a rare and beautiful material - we are able to balance heritage with practicality in every project.

While our foundation lies in traditional craftsmanship, we continuously invest in the latest technology to complement and enhance our skills. Advanced stone-cutting machinery and precision equipment allow us to achieve impressive accuracy and efficiency, particularly on complex or large-scale projects.
Crucially, we see technology as a tool to serve craftsmanship, not replace it. The artistry and intuition of a trained stonemason remain at the heart of our work, technology simply extends what is possible. By blending time-honoured hand skills with cutting-edge machinery, we ensure every piece of work meets the highest standards of both detail and durability.
Our future rests in the hands of the next generation of stonemasons. That is why we are committed to training and apprenticeships, ensuring traditional skills are passed on and preserved. Through our structured programme, apprentices learn not only the technical aspects of stone masonry but also the respect for stone, heritage, and precision that cannot be taught from books alone.
By investing in people, we safeguard the integrity of stonemasonry as a craft and support our team in developing meaningful, lifelong skills. This dedication ensures that the artistry, knowledge, and values that have defined Weldon Stone since 1977 will continue to shape buildings for generations to come.

Yes! We use lime mortars tailored to each application. Stronger mixes are selected for weatherings and exposed areas, while softer, more breathable mortars are used for walling and ashlar work to allow natural movement and moisture release.
Always. All our stone is natural and ethically sourced, primarily from British quarries, with some materials imported from France when appropriate. We typically work with limestone and sandstone, chosen for their quality, authenticity, and suitability to heritage restoration.
Our in-house draughtsmen produce precise working drawings, taking measurements either on site or from supplied architectural plans. Depending on the project, we use traditional templating methods or laser scanning to achieve millimetre accuracy before fabrication.
Yes. We can provide stone on a supply-only basis or offer a full supply-and-fix service. Many of our clients work with trusted builders or contractors, and we’re happy to coordinate accordingly to ensure a seamless process.
We’ll guide you through the selection process based on the stone’s purpose, colour, and texture. When original quarries are no longer in operation, we source the closest geological and visual match. We also bring samples to site so you can see how the stone will look in context - ensuring suitability for both appearance and durability.
